Assessment of Learning

Years 7, 8 & 9

Pupils will be assessed in the following four skill areas; Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading with assessments being taken throughout the year. Pupils will be assessed through a range of formative and summative assessments both in class and through homework tasks.

Years 10 & 11

Pupils will be assessed through a range of formative and summative assessments in class and through homework tasks. The GCSE tests four main skill areas, all components of the exam are equally balanced and pupils will be expected to complete a Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking exam at the end of Year 11. Continual assessment in all these four areas will happen throughout the year.
