Governing Body

The Local Governing Body (LGB) has 13 members and there are 6 meetings a year, one per half term. In addition, there are committees to consider Pay, Personnel, and Admissions on an ongoing basis. Members of the Governing Body are from all walks of life and bring knowledge and experience which prove invaluable in the governing of the school.

Governors do not get involved in the day-to-day running of the school instead supporting and challenging the school’s leadership team to drive school improvement. Being a school governor is a commitment and a responsibility but offers the opportunity to see first-hand the impact that can be made in improving education for children in the community.

Their role also includes the oversight of activities in the school and several governors act as ‘Link Governors’ to gain specific knowledge in different areas such as Safeguarding, Special Educational Needs etc to keep the Governing Body informed more closely about what is happening in that area.

Minutes of the governor’s meetings are in the school for those wishing to read them. Governors work within the framework provided by the Government and The Challenge Academy Trust and we follow those rules carefully. If you wish to contact any of the governors, they can be contacted by mail or messages left at the school.

Governors are there to also support parents, but this should not be the first point of contact and if you wish to discuss things about your child please go through the correct procedure. You can contact Moira Bryan the Chair of Governors by e-mail at: Chair@penkethhigh.org or via postal address: Chair of Governors, C/O Penketh High School, Heath Road, Penketh, Warrington. WA5 2BY.

The Clerk to Governors is Debbie Walsh who is employed through the Entrust Clerking Service and is independent from the school. You can contact her by writing to her at the school or by e-mail at: debbie.walsh@entrustclerk.com

We became part of The Challenge Academy Trust (TCAT) on the 1st May 2017 along with a number of schools from across Warrington. TCAT is now led by Andrew Moorcroft CEO with a TCAT board and a Local Governing Body. Governors are ultimately responsible for how the school is performing. The Governing Body are either elected or appointed and are in four different categories that include Parents, Staff, Community and Trust Appointed members.

The Principal of Penketh is Mr John Carlin who has been appointed by TCAT.
