Number – Decimals, factors, multiples, primes, indices, negatives and standard form

Algebra – Expressions, equations, inequalities, and formulae

Shape –  Angles, properties of shape, Pythagoras and trigonometry

Spring Term

Pupils will complete 3 units at a level appropriate to their ability.

Topics include:

Number – Fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion

Shape – Perimeter, area, volumes and measures

Algebra – Sequences and graphs

Summer Term

Pupils will complete 3 units at a level appropriate to their ability.

Topics include:

Data – Averages, bar charts, pie charts, scatter graphs, stem and leaf diagrams, tree diagrams, Venn diagrams and probability.

Shape – Symmetry, coordinates, transformations, similarity, maps and scale

This has videos and interactive questions for them to use at home for revision or to help with homework.

Pupils will have the opportunity to enter national competitions run by Nrich and UKMT

www.parallel.org.uk . This is for able pupils who want to try some interesting aspects of maths which are not covered in the national curriculum

Revision for GCSE

This will include past papers and specific topic revision

Enrichment/Wider Reading

Pupils will be given a methodmaths login to complete exam questions at home.

Pupils in the top set will have the opportunity to study a GCSE in further maths if they are achieving the top grades by the end of year 10

Assessment of Learning

Pupils in all year groups will complete a topic review at the end of a learning cycle (approx every 2-3 weeks).

We use progression steps for homework booklets that pupils complete once per fortnight.

Years 7,8 & 9

Once per term pupils will complete an exam which covers all aspects of the curriculum.

Years 10 & 11

Once per term pupils will complete a mock exam which covers all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils will be provided with a revision list and mathswatch clips to help them revise.
