1.0 Purpose
This policy sets out Penketh High’s arrangements for managing the access of providers of education or training to our pupils, to allow them to give information about their specific education or training offer. It recognises and supports the aim of the Government careers strategy published on 4 December 2017 to ensure that our pupils “get a program of advice and guidance that is stable, structured and delivered by individuals with the right skills and experience”

2.0 Rationale

The school has a legal obligation to allow information from providers to be disseminated to our pupils under section 42B of the Education Act 1997, as amended by the Technical and Further Education Act 2017. Students in years 8 – 11 are entitled to:

• Find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeships opportunities, as part of a careers programme which provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point.

• Hear from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships.

• Understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.

3.0 Management of the Process

A provider wishing to request access should contact CAIG lead Mrs Mel Jones in the first instance: 01925 722298 or via email: mjones@penketh.warrington.sch.uk

4.0 Opportunities

Penketh High pupils are given a number of personal development opportunities integrated into the school careers program that offer providers the chance to come into school to speak to pupils and/or parents/carers. An example of the opportunities provided can be found below:
